Ystervarkies means porcupine in Afrikaans and is also the name given to sweet lamingtons. The series explores the constant entanglement between the nature-culture relationship visible in the everyday when approached from a dynamic lense.

I have cut and transformed porcupine quills, using them in new ways to highlight the different perspectives needed to discover the beauty and hidden workings of ordinary farm life.
